Yea I have to agree... I like JLs, but no sub decimates all...Reasoning ? That's a pretty superficial statement.

Never said that they didn't. Most that do blow them do it through sheer stupidity, though. I know several people running well over twice the recommended power through theirs. They are properly enclosed and the gains on their amps are properly set and they don't jack the volume through the roof all the time though. JL's power ratings are very conservative. They are usually detroyed by exceeding their displacement limited power handling, not cooking the coils.....so yea, they last....
That's "Quote of the month" material right there, friend.Saying that they **** because they don't soak up a ton of power and get really loud is like saying that Ali wasn't a great athlete because he couldn't play hockey.
My 10W6's are almost 8 years old now, and still going strong.jl's are my fav, but because they all have foam surrounds you have to keep them out of the sun otherwise, the sun destroys them. Otherwise, if used properly jl decimates all!!!!
Never had a complaint about mine not being loud enough, that's for sure. I was only running 133 each to them, too. Found the resonant frequency of my vocal chords one night. It hurt to talk for a week. I'm not saying that they don't get loud enough for a sane person, they get plenty loud for most. It's these 1kW+ idiots that always trash on them cause they don't get as loud as other subs. I for one don't want or need that kind of power and I don't have any use for a sub that "needs" at least a kW to "sound good." For most people it seems these days the quality of their bass is measurable in dBs. A lot of subs may give what they think is "tight" bass. They've got no basis for comparison. They've never heard "tight" bass. They've never listened to an accurate system. The bass in the systems they heard was so loud that they felt the impact so it must be "tight," right. Doesn't matter that you can't distinguish a bass guitar from a bassoon. My 10W6's are almost 8 years old now, and still going strong.
For years, I only had 133 watts per sub, and was able to get them darn near full output (low-mid 140's, in a primarily SQ application).
JL rates them at 300 each, and that's known to be ultra-conservative.
I wouldn't say they are hard to get loud.
