bringing this thread back from the dead...
anyone have any more input on this? i'm currently constructing a system for my mazda3 (hatch). daily driver. sq system. i'm not looking for output, i'm looking for sq alone, my listening is probably 75% classical/jazz, with the remainder split between "everything else". i have no desire to "thump the neighborhood", i just want a good linear bottom end. fwiw, front stage will be jl c5-650's.
i have a 10w3v3 (sealed, jl spec custom box) in my wife's sc300 currently (front stage is boston z6's) powered by a jl 250/1. for my application, it doesn't lack for output. as i understand things (and i freely admit that my understanding is often faulty //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif ) as a general rule bass output is easier to produce in a hatch vs. a trunk, so i'm not concerned that the w3v3 won't be "loud" enough.
so the question is, from a strictly sq standpoint, is the w6v2 a significant step up from the w3v3? either would be appropriately powered and sealed in spec boxes, i'm not a fan of ported boxes. although to be fair, i will admit that this may be because i've never heard one that sounds as good as a sealed box for the type of music i listen to.
i've searched this to death, and can't seem to come up with any type of answer (although maybe i'm not hitting the correct search terms).
and yes, before anyone chimes in, i know many consider jl to be "overpriced", etc. that's not the question.
