So, just wonder. has anyone had one of these 12s?

- Should i follow the box spec on the paper that comes with the box or something else.

- Sealed or ported?

-Is the sub more SPL or SQL

- its 4ohm, What amp should i be investing in? I was looking at this amp but im not sure it itll match with my sub, if im under or over powering it. i see the specs of the amp say 320 at 4ohms, but theyres a second spec to it for 4ohms.

- Lastly does it hit hard? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif like in a tiny 99 mustang? or is it going to sound like shit?

There are TONS of threads about this sub. Use the search fuction and all your questions will be answered;)

Just a quick response;

It's a very good sounding sub, it is NOT an SPL sub, it has great SQ. A lot of people use them and they are built well. A lot of people on here will put down the w3v3 instead of answering your questions, if the w3v3 is the sub you want, you can't go wrong with it..... but there are better subs out there for the money.

Another response you'll get is, "Why go with JL? Why not RE?" It basically boils down to what YOU want.

I'm sure projekpenkin(or whatever his name is) will chime in shortly telling you that the w3v3 is NOT an SQ sub and to go with the w3v2..... I think he's the only person here that says that, the w3v3 has always been known for it's SQ and NOT SPL.

I would save a few bucks and go with the w3v2, I personally have had both, and like the v2 better. I prefer sealed over ported box with the w3, but thats just because I wasnt lookin to for spl.

they're really great sounding subs...at a car show i heard 2 w3s v1 in 15"

sealed box off a us amp i think...and that thing pounded insanely well

yet very clean and precise

This sub is amazive in the right box....I never heard it sealed but ported it was surprisingly loud on a cadience 720 watt rms rated and amp and was way louder and cleaner than the mtx 8000 the guy had b4.. its in a 2.0 cuft tune to 32 hz , sounds ok in the recommended ported box..just not as loud..

Actually he is correct! I have a pair of 10w3v2s that are currently in 2.5 cubes ported @ 34 Hz installed in my Civic. I had a chance to demo a 10w3v3 in my vehicle due to one of the installers at a custom shop being a good friend of mine. He was of the same opinion that the w3v3 doesn't sound as good as the w3v2, and I would have to agree with him.

For what it is worth, even the 10w3v2s aren't the holy grail of SQ subs that others make them out to be. They play deep, but they don't play all frequencies equally. In fact, they are kind of weak from 60 to 80 Hz! My dd1010 in 1 cubic foot @ 35 Hz doesn't play as deep, but it plays most of the bass frequencies that I am accustomed to hearing. Oddly, when I had the JLs in .75 cubic feet sealed per 10, they played the higher bass frequencies better than the lower bass frequencies.

Why is it so hard to find a sub that plays evenly from 20 to 80 Hz?

Maybe a better way to put it is the v2 is a better sq sub than the v3?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif Instead of "The w3v3 is NOT an SQ sub", cause they do sound great.
