JL vs Sundown

Wouldn't mind owning a JL amp, and that I always love that sense of "**** man you got blank in your trunk?" question. But in my opnion just way too overpriced. I always though MTV cribs made JL Audio what it is, not consumers.
Umm no what actually built JL audio's name was sweeping about every class at iasca finals for 2 or 3 years straight. You might not consider it a big deal but back then just on the SQ side of things those shows drew over 100 sq cars at an average show and much more at Nationals and finals. Tommy Clark's van was a big deal back in the day http://www.termpro.com/showcars/terminator/ca1096.html. JL audio started from a little shop in Florida called Speaker Warehouse, where Manville Smith, Lucio Proni, Tommy Clark and I believe Jeff Pitman all won. They started the JL (subs), PPI (amps) MB Quart(speakers) fad that lasted for YEARS hell a decade or more. Mind you they didn't have TV ads, were not on MTV and they didn't have the internet. Their success was all from magazines and kicking tail at contests.

I keep seeing these "vs" threads. And it makes me think it is a thread about fights, then i look and it is about electronics
I always think it's a thread where somebody did a test. Maybe did straight up sub swaps and metered kind of thing.

Yep, I have 2006 GT and a 1997 Civic.
But back to the Mustang.... the Stealthbox is OK and geared more towards SQ than SPL. If I had to do it all over again, I would have just built my own fiberglass enclosure and gone with an IDMAX 12. The only problem was I had to have a system in August 2008, and it was WAY too hot outside to even think about playing with fiberglass!

I am gearing up to revamp the system soon and I am going to run some relics that I have in storage right now. Soon it will be time to knock the dust off some Linear Power amps;)

Right now I am jealous of your Roush supercharger, but I want to do like one of my friends in New Orleans did.... He put a Kenne Bell 2.6 on his 2005 GT with a Modular Mustang Racing Lower end. He is getting 650 to the wheels and has a 175 shot of nitrous on top of that. His current block was built to handle 1,000 horsepower versus his stock block that went boom on 10 psi of boost when he just had the Kenne Belle. Too bad he was banned from the drag strip for running too fast without a roll cage:eek:
You're friend is nuts. I wish I could play with a Mustang like that. But alas, my car is my daily driver. Can't risk blowing the motor.

This Roush TVS is a beast. It's a 2.3L, much bigger than what's on the regular blown Roush Mustangs out on the road. This one can deliver up to 700hp!

I'm on a stock block. I'm about to swap my crank pulley for another 4 lbs of boost to get me to about 475 rwhp. But I need/want a better fuel pump system. The GT500 dual pump setup is about $1100 installed. New plugs & tune and I'll be spending about $1700.

Not ready to do all this yet, but I'd like to get my audio system done first.

I'm not a DIY type guy. I'll pay someone to build my box and install. I don't mind two amps, but I only want one sub and a small sealed box. I'm very pleased with Image Dynamics components, so I'll just stick with them.

I just don't know if one SAX-125.2 bridged (400w x 1) would be enough for a IDQ12 or IDMAX12.

His is a daily driver too:crazy: Well that and his F-350 twin turbo diesel truck. When he really wants to go fast, he whips out the turbocharged busa that has either a 50 or 75 HP shot of NOS on it:eek:

I just want 550 to the wheels... Well it is either that or get a Camaro SS when they come out:laugh: It is all a matter of do I want to play with a paid for car or finance a new car....
