JL system Idea

Hello all, I'm new to this forum but not to audio.

I have had many single sub system's and was thinking of

doing a 3 ten inch driver setup. I just bought a 2002 jetta

and am currently dynamatting it while I decide on the system.

I'm going to run:

alpine head unit

soundstream reference 500 amp for subs

reference 300 for front stage

undecided on front driver's

My question is do you think that 3 10w0's would sound good,

or would it be better to go with 2 10w3v2's? I would rather not go with 12's anymore, that's what I've had in my last few system's. I would probably go with a different company for subs but my friend can get me jl for cost so the price is to hard to pass up. The ref. 500 is high current and will put out a clean 500 watts and I would rather not buy new amps.

I know everyone will say it depends on the box, and I understand that but for the subs I will go with simple factory spec sealed enclosure's, unless someone has a better idea.(not ported) I am not concerned with huge spl but I have always favored my system's to hit mid 130's which I think should be very possible with the two sub ideas I have.

On another note it sucks that the w0's take such a larger enclosure but I always have wanted a 3 10 system.

I had 3 10w3's in a factory rec sealed box and a 500a2 on them. Eye opening output at the 60hz range. You can go wrong with JL especially when you get them at cost. Just make sure you amp is around 1ohm stable because I ran that RF amp at like 1.67 or 1.37 and its definitly not recomended for that.

Hey, I had 3 JL 10w0-12's for a while. They were in a sealed box and the SQ was very nice. They did not hit very hard, but had some good punch. I think if you like to hit mid 130's, then this setup would be good.

I'm not sure about the cost difference, but I think that the 10w3's would sound better, hit a bit lower and be as loud, or louder than the 10w0's, but if price is an issue, i dont' know which would be cheaper for you.

Also, 3 10's looks kind sexy ^^

it;s 1 ohm stable, what do you think about 10w0's?
Do you know what the cost difference is between the w0 and the w3 for you? I ask this because there is a significant jump in performance from the w0 to the w3. W0's are not bad subs by any means, but they are not w3's either. Instead of the thread AOL IM me at MagsRgod and I can help you with what ever you need.

If you can get them at cost go with the W3's. You'll probably hit 12-15 db louder with the W3's. Plus they hit so tight it feels like a firecracker going off on your chest.

I was running 3 12W3's with PPI 1200 and I was putting together a system that had 3 10W3's on PPI 600 but it had a DEQ-230, it hit so hard I had to get out of the car. I was pissed knowing I had twice the power and bigger subs but with the EQ his car hit harder with 10W3's.

Well I got some of my gear today>

3x 10w3v2

500/1

300/4

eclipse 8443

optima yellow top

Why exactly would a deq-230 make the system hit harder, wouldn't it just make it sound more seemless?

I'm giong for 2.25 gross sealed for the box, no seperation for the drivers. I think that is probably the biggest I could go and still keep 100% control of the driver's and have a nice spl rating.

I wonder if I will really be able to hit mid 140's?
