JL Subs... Opinions Please

Well, if you don't want that extreme, ear piercing blow, then just get one nice decent bassy sub, that has great SQ, or just tune your subs differently.

Some like JL, some don't, and lots HERE think they are overpriced. and that is because for the money, you can get better. but the average person doesn't know a lot of those other brands, so as far as a mainstream, best buy, Ultimate Electronics and maybe a few other countrywide stores. JL is one of the best, but in terms of all the options, there is better.

I personally love JL, they sound great. But get them while on sale, my brother has a single 12w6v2 in a stealthbox in his Xterra and it sounds great and booms plenty with the car's stock sub and RF amped stock speakers. it's decent for the price. (and I know Rockford Fosgate isn't the best, but for stock amped in a Xterra, they sound ok)

I was GIVEN, yes Given 2 JL audio 12w6v1's from a friend. and they are great, I have one in my truck and I'm about to maybe add the second if I can decide if I wanna loose my entire ext cab back.

If you dont have them available locally, buy something else.
JL wont warranty anything bought online (except Crutchfield), and they wont repair or recone any JL subs bought used.......unless you dont mind spending as much to recone the sub as a new sub would cost.

Seriously, dont buy it if you cant buy it authorized.

I got a 13W7 on ebay, it was blown, paypal refunded money, and I got to keep sub. Sent it to JL $310 to be fixed including shipping back... from JL in Flo-rida

Thanks for your replies guys, I'll take all of your advice into consideration.

Suppose I come across a deal for 2 10w6v2's-

Like I've said before, I have a JL Stealtbox in my 350z which brought two 10w3v3's which have a required dimention box according to JL and I believe it was build to spec. Knowing this, the 10w6 have a different dimention requirement but same volume as the 10w3, would I be able to swap the w3 for the w6 using the same stealthbox and have good quality output?

if u want sq then i would go with the FI Q its cheaper and a better brand than crappy jl
