JL or Rockford?

Used is no big deal. I've been watching 500/1's and 300/2's on eBay for QUITE some time before deciding to go with the diamond audio amps I bought. You can get a slightly used 500/1 on eBay for $175 out the door and a used 300/2 for $150 out the door. Those are consistent prices, too, for amps that look almost new!! I've seen both amps sell for as low as $120 shipped, if you just wait. Unfortunately, I missed those auctions and haven't seen any after that since now everyone has christmas money to spend. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I'd say use your credit to get a nice refurb head unit from sonic, something you could get a decent return on via ebay. Then just get buy the amps you want used on ebay and end up spending nothing and save yourself $200. I can think of lots of good stuff to spend the $200 you save on...but that's just me. With a $350 credit you can get a Pioneer DEH-P9800BT, and they're still selling for that price on eBay, so you'd be loosing no money.

I'm just letting you know what you COULD do with that cash. You could always just make it easy and get the amps you want right away directly from sonicelectronics and not deal with it....or you could spend it smart and use that money you save to get all new wires and cables, or whatever.

I'm running an Eclipse 8455. It's not new, but works flawlessly. I'll probably get a new h/u this summer, so that's why I'm not considering a new one right now. As for the wires/cables, I'm using some that are fairly new (knukonceptz). All the wiring is already installed anyway. I get what you're saying about buying an rb unit and reselling it, but just don't want to deal with that. Thanks for the inputs.

For sub it doesn't matter, both RF and JL are perfect choices. For comps, JL sounds much better for me and it's also safer. Due to design, when you accomplish to blew a channel on RF A/B amp, in 98% of cases it will pass full DC to speaker, smoking it in a second. JL uses different output stage which blows gracefully. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I have never seen a 500/1 slightly used go for that cheap on there

at my work we just replaced an entire rockford system (rockfords best) with jl's best amps and speakers,

the jl walked all over the rockford with less harsh speakers better midbass and half the rated power then the rockford amps. and smaller amp

eBay - 500/2 sold for $180 shipped

This one looks like it had some problems with a terminal being stripped a bit, I'm positive I've seen better go for $30 less. Like I said, people are spending more money now from the holidays. Wait a few months, they'll be back down.

eBay - 300/2 sold for $165 shipped

This one is practically new. I've personally seen this company sell a 300/2 and the bids only got to $97 with $20 shipping. They're out there, you just have to keep your eyes open for that deal...

On a side note, it's cool that you don't want to deal with it ewoevo, I was just saying....

Some people would say $200 would buy you a half z of some nice trees. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

Others would say $200 would get you a nice set of components.

Even more others would say that $200 is free gas for two months.

It's whatever you think is important, though. I'd say go with JL, they never let down.

i would go for the jl's but im in miami and im partial for the hometeam.

but on the real

i yhink the jls would have better resale(trade) value in the long run
