nevermind everyone, ive decided to go with an xplod amp!!
is that what you wanted to hear bobb?

all i asked was if anyone knew that **** release date for this thing. i may have implied that i'd be purchasing it as soon as it came out, but i also later mentioned that id be buying it used or off of ebay, to shed some money off of it.

its a great amp, price ***** horribly, yes, but im sure for its foot print, not many amps could match up to all its specs (besides wattage). im just trying to get that accross, just like your trying to say that i can buy same watts for cheaper value.

I took 10 minutes out of my life to show you 3. Not just 3 that can match to output, but 3 that can beat it in output, size, and price, whilst matching it in quality. If after all that you still think the JL is worth the extra money, then more power to you. I would have just as much fun buying the Massive and making a bonfire out of 500 one dollar bills.

You really dont understand anything. I bet you cant even comprehend the analogy I made earlier.
I use simple analogy's to ATTEMPT to get you idiots to SOMEWHAT understand why JL costs more than others, yet you STILL think that price/power ratio means everything! It simply blows my mind how stupid the general car audio hobbyist is! Holy *****!

Ill ask you again... How would I be a complete idiot if I was to spend half the price on a company that is not as mainstream but still had the same quality if not better, the same power, and the same general specs?

Notice now the bold print... I am not simply stating price to power but also quality... cuz I would choose many companies over JL quality wise...

Once again notice the bold words in that statement... I did not say "O well there are thousands of amps for cheaper that make more power" which is what you seem to think is what I keep saying for some reason?

the rips technology allows to compenstate for the change in voltage and getting down to 11 volts and still staying safe WHILE providing full output. thats some sexy powerful ****

most of the amps that have been mentioned that are "better", which they are no doubt **** good amps, are usually rated at 14.4v and 1 or 2 ohm.... so you are driving your amp much harder than you would if you could get the same rated power at 4 ohms with less voltage...

besides all the bashing the answer is there isnt a release yet i have jl and keep up with it on face book if you havent already join jl facebook page, and buy what your happy with if you want it get it i purchased jl for many different reasons its expensive without a doubt but for the sound that i was looking for jl did it for me.....not talkin down on anyone jus my opinion...

The amp in my avatar along with the JL Slash, HD and XD amps were all designed by Bruce Macmillian, Senior Electrical Engineer at JL Audio. He also designed the original version of R.I.P.S. used in the Precision Power 2350DM some 20 years ago. I would say the guy knows his chit.

By the way, I'm not taking a shot at any other manufacturer. Those mentioned as alternatives to the 1200/1 are probably really nice pieces. But, can any of those amps make full rated power at only 11 volts? That should tell you something about the build quality of the JL amp.

My advice to the OP is to be patient. The 1200/1 will be available soon enough and it should be a hell'uva amp. I auditioned the XD 600/1 the other day and on two JL 12W0's in a ported box, it nearly destroyed the listening room. There was stuff rattling and falling everywhere. I can only imagine how strong the HD 1200/1 will be.

R.I.P.S is awesome I wont argue that nor the fact that JL's amps are very nice... I just realy wish I wasnt young and dumb when I did my 79's system cuz I probably would have spent my money a little more wizely had I known JL is not the best out there, espicaly for the money I spent...

This is just hopeless at this point. Let him waste his money. If he doesn't want any help, he doesn't have to take it. If he wants to throw $200+ down the drain, that's his own problem.

Not sure why you are taking it so personal that he doesnt want to follow your advice, Also there are other things about these HD amps, not only do the do full power from 11,14v at 4-1.5ohm they also have differential balanced inputs Car Audio Amplifiers - Car Audio Amps - JL Audio for full OEM intergration and Signal cycle control http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_amps_pages.php?page_id=251 please read this.

These other things really set this amps apart from the others by a long shot, You should really try to make it to the Vancover show coming up and hear my friends T-bird running all JL slash amps and Image dynamics there is a reason why alot of compeating SQ guys use these amps, Also there is another guy up here that runs these HD amps who competes professionally and wins. I think your opinion would change infact I know it would not saying you would rush out and go buy JL audio but you sure wouldnt be so quick to bash on it.

Its not always about MEGA MONDO OUTPUT at the cheapest price wich is a huge missconception in car audio these day's.

im going to wait it out. according ot al & ed, it should be out this week. but i think thats a bunch of bs. and idk if i can even get a direct real answer fro JL themsevles. so i guess we're going to have to wait for the real release date of it. =(

idk how soon il but one, but i know i want one. il probably sell all my amps that i have now in exchange for that one. the jl amps would only be that much better if they were stable down to 1ohm completely.

exactly. jl amps have a bunch of **** on them that just makes them some **** good amps. its not just the numbers they put out, cus even il admit that jl puts out decent numbers but not crazy high numbers like other amps do.

Its like saying you shouldnt buy a Lexus because a Toyota costs less and can still get you from point A-B. While this is true to some extent, the fact is the Lexus is still nicer, and some people like nicer ****.

Ever heard of build quality? Fit/finish? JL is excellent.

LOL, seems you are confusing Watts and Dollars for Quality...

Look at the real numbers:

JL HD 1200/1

THD 0.03%

SNR 111 db

MMATS M1400.1D

THD 0.1%

SNR 85db

MA N2

THD 0.3%

SNR 80db

So why does a McIntosh MMC302 cost $3000 when it only produces 150w x 2???

Same reasons my stock mark levinson 300w amp runs $800. SOUND QUALITY!

= THD of an insane 0.005% and a great SNR of 105db. (McIntosh, not Levinson)

So as for sound Quality, the JL blow the MMAT and MA out of the water.

Not saying the others are bad, but not as clean as the JL.

If you just want (dirty) power, you can get a $100 3000w amp with like 10% THD at the swap meet...

Here is something you may not know new guy.. Most of the Korean made amps make well over rated, so when they drop down in voltage or raise the ohm level they are making rated or very close to it. The THD is not audible UNLESS you have some award wining SQ setup. And the reason RIPs is so great is the same thing that made the / series so power hungry. The store alot of reserve energy to cove the voltage drop.

If you only want a good looking slightly above average level of loud with great SQ with a name that everybody knows as expensive its the amp for you. If I was to spend that kind of money for a little amp I would go Zed
