Well, looking at the JL specs vs. MA specs, the JL wins hands down. Why? Because of the R.I.P.S technology. MA N3 makes 450 watts @ 4 ohms. The JL makes 1200 @ 1.5-4 ohm load. It also will make that power at only 11 volts whereas the MA needs 14.4 volts. What does that tell you? Bottomline is JL makes really nice stuff. Now, you may not like their prices or you may just be a JL-hater because they are the big, mainstream brand. However, you would be hardpressed to point to something in the their catalog and say it was junk. Someone made the claim that MMATS was "MUCH better quality" because it is made in the US. Really? Can you prove that by quoting an A/B comparison test?

Is JL the end-all, be-all? No, of course not. But, dogging a manufacturer because of their prices isn't a real convincing argument either.

Massive also makes a 5 channel nano IIRC

Not by a long shot bro, For the price its a good amp, There are 5 channels out there that will leave the nine5 in the dust.

I know the old JL slash series amps were designed by the guy who did the Xtant M series amps atleast thats what I was reading back when they first hit the market.

If you look at a Slash series internally you will see a lot of simularities in design.

Slash amps were solid prices yes but solid.

Look at DD amps for example, Id bet they are way better amps the JL and you could have ton more power for a 1000 dollars from DD then JL...

I use simple analogy's to ATTEMPT to get you idiots to SOMEWHAT understand why JL costs more than others, yet you STILL think that price/power ratio means everything! It simply blows my mind how stupid the general car audio hobbyist is! Holy *****!

im tired of noob ***** coming in here thinking jl is god and that there shiit is worth the money....jl is over priced by alot..ofcourse u have never heard of mmats and thats because all noobs think mainstream is the best stuff around....ITS NOT there are subs for half the price that will whoop the DUB 7 up and down the street and there are amps from non main stream companys that will put any jl amp to shame and stick it in the corner till its learned its lesson

relax there killer. everyone assumes that just cus someone sticks up for a mainstream brand, or that cus someone likes mainstream brand product that their nobs just into the retail ****. not true. i brough up this thread, simply asking if anyone knew the release date of this amp. then i started getting all these members jumping in claiming its over priced and that im a mainstream user and blah blah.

i do love JL. not cus im a nob or cus i dont know other brands. i do know plenty of other brands and run non mainstream ****. look at my signature. i dont run ******* rare priceless jewels, but i dont run the classic kicker, jl and mtx. anyone can run what they like, but point is, that yes JL is expensive and some might consider it overpriced for their budgets, but truth is, that their **** is good and top quality. sure we all wish it was cheaper and more affordable, but their **** is some of the more top quality equipment you can buy. we are limited to what they build and we cant get a 2000 watt woofer or 1500 wat amp from them but based on the specs they use and what their prodcuts are built for, they give you great performance.

here are some real specs. and these are the kind of things im talking about that do make jl a good brand and make me want this 1200/1 for example. im not trying to run all JL equipment, but i do like their line of amps, this one in particular.

but no seriously, build quality of JL is excellent, its one of the things they make sure to specialize in, and one of the reasons why they indeed have become mainstream.

the rips technology allows to compenstate for the change in voltage and getting down to 11 volts and still staying safe WHILE providing full output. thats some sexy powerful ****

all i asked was if anyone knew that **** release date for this thing. i may have implied that i'd be purchasing it as soon as it came out, but i also later mentioned that id be buying it used or off of ebay, to shed some money off of it.

its a great amp, price ***** horribly, yes, but im sure for its foot print, not many amps could match up to all its specs (besides wattage). im just trying to get that accross, just like your trying to say that i can buy same watts for cheaper value.
