JL Audio

Not to disagree, but the W6v2 often sounds better than the W7; the lower inductance is pretty noticeable.
this is an important fact that i was trying to explain in a previous thread the lower inductance also means you don't have to have as much power for good frequency responce...the w7 is higher inductance because of the voice coil being almost double that of the w6 thats why you have to have enough power to the w7 for it to sound like it was designed to

2x except for with the w7 if you underpower it you're allmost guaranteed to hate it on the contrary, with the right setup you'll fall in love with it... don't let people in this forum fool you into thinking you can make any sub do watever you want... there is a distinct difference and reference in which the quality of the sub is based, where you go from there(with the installation) is largely personal prefference... then again don't listen to me, i'm a complete idiot
Finally you admit it

Edit: lol at your sig of helotaxi

ah christ not another JL thread.

the two woofers are used in different applications,

imo i would use w7's if you have a LOT of room to work with or power hungry

w6's if space/power is limited

they both make bass. and both sound good. if used in propper enclosures.

Please go on and explain. I have time.
the blend with the midrange and emphisis on specific frequecies depends largely on the enclousure... a w7 with the right amount of power in the right enclosure produces amazing bass, the characteristic of it that often makes people not like it as far as SQ goes is the loudness of it... but that makes me wonder why would you want a w7 if you don't like loud music? but thats just my opinion of it in my experience... esspecially with an experienced tuner... w7's can have sound that makes you feel like you are witnessing the performance live... JL's line of home theater sub systems the fathom and the gotham which have been reguarded as some of the best in the industry are closely related to the w7's

You can bet your *** that frequency response is largely enclosure specific (hey guess what? So is high SPL numbers!) but that changes nothing in my previous post. If I'm wanting the w7 to really emphasize the 25-40hz region, the upper bass is going to be limited and it will not blend well with the front stage due to the exaggerated low end. If I wanted a nice and flat FR, I would rather go with the w6 as I prefer its sound and space/power/price requirements. I do not like the sound of the w7s, even in a high Qtc alignment where its low end is tamed. Does that mean they sound terrible? No. But it's not what I want out of my sub and that's what makes this world beautiful -- we all like different things.

Trust me...save your breath with this one. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

yeah thats true! i thought in your previous post you were saying that the w7 allways emphasizes 25-40, but i preffer the w6's myself... if i had to put a finger on why.. it would be because the w7 is too accurate... it reproduces the bass extremelly clearly but doesn't really have mutch of that smooth rolling sound that you get from the w6... the w6 seems to be easier to listen to, even at the same volume

Right. if you listen to mostly rap W7 may be fine, but if you like to mix up your misic the W6 sounds great.

definitly agree with this, quallity of the sub greatlly depends on the type of music being played through it... i find that the W6's seem to know what i'm listning to and don't overemphise basslines in light country or rock but when i listen to rap they pound

Hate to disagree, but the quality of the sub has absolutely nothing to do with the music being played.
