are you running these active? if you had the crossovers connected that the set came with you definitely didnt hurt anything.

Thankfully they were not run active and the passive crossovers that came with the speakers were indeed being used. I also was only feeding them 75 watts. I am concerned with the smell that was in my car after the distortion. I do think that the speakers are fine though, I am just being extra worried.
