I need to see that 1200 watts at 4 ohm. What would you suggest?it will do 1 ohm distortion might be higher(which you wont hear) with box rise it wont actually see 1 ohm and at 4 ohms box rise will be so much you will never see 1200 watts out of it.
If you want to spend a boatload of money you Could overpower maybe an alpine mrx2400? Or you could wire to 1 ohm or the other option if you are set on jl I would buy 1 of the slash series either the1000/1 or the 1200/1.I need to see that 1200 watts at 4 ohm. What would you suggest?
All research indicates the hd1200 is better than the /1200v3.If you want to spend a boatload of money you Could overpower maybe an alpine mrx2400? Or you could wire to 1 ohm or the other option if you are set on jl I would buy 1 of the slash series either the1000/1 or the 1200/1.
The 1200/1 is better. But it's also bigger if that matters. It has a adjustable SS filter the HD does not.All research indicates the hd1200 is better than the /1200v3.
THD Rated @ RMS Power = .03%.
I highly doubt I won't see close to 1200 watts at 4 ohm with that efficiency.
This setup is being used daily.
I was told "Unless your into competition box rise shouldn't be an issue".
I have the 1200/1v3 it even states in the manual once you get above 4 ohm impedence( which you will with box rise) output is cut in half. The 4 ohm rating is in a perfect world with No box rise. The 1200/1 is better. But it's also bigger if that matters. It has a adjustable SS filter the HD does not. According to JL themselves it's more robust.
Where do they say that? The 1200/1 is better. But it's also bigger if that matters. It has a adjustable SS filter the HD does not. According to JL themselves it's more robust.
A freind of mine thats a tech rep at JL HQ, Eric Cole. The HD is more of a plug and play any the Slash is a adjustable audiophile amp. Both are goingto do the same power the Slash has more function. I dont believe they have updated the site since the v3 came out.Where do they say that?On their site follow the links to the hd1200 and it Cleary states "Most powerful amp ever"
hate to say this but box rise does have an impact on daily driving when you want the loudest possible daily driver. Its a big audible difference when you lose that much power. Hence why I always wire low since I have the electricals to support it and notice big enough audible gains to keep it wired that way.if you are not competing then do not worry about box rise.
You still have to set the amp according to what impedence your running. they don't lock in the load box rise will still affect your output. That being said the slash series are underrated and still do pretty well at higher impedence the hd series not so much.Box rise dont count as much with the RIPS amps. They lock in the load... Thats why they cost so much but they are just overpriced according to the haters
