JL Audio Amps

Hey guys I just put a down payment on the 300/2 JL audio amp... I have two MTX 12" 6000 Series subs should I be gettin this amp since I dun have duel voice coils? or would it be alrite if I just bridged them together into a 2 ohm load... Would my amp overheat a lot of would my subs sound like crap? `

The amp will run hotter, and also decrease the dampoing factor at 2 ohms. I wired a dual 2 ohm sub in parallel to my amp at 1 ohm and when i touched the top of the amp it almost burned me. And the out put was more distorted. Just hook one sub up to each channel (stereo). The amp will put out 300 watts if it's bridged or if it's not bridged.

hrm, the JL 300/2 is a great amp...

waht are teh coils on tehose MTx's?

they are single voice coils so runnin them together into one channel would make them go into a 2 ohm load rite?

well after u answer that i'm thinkin of upgradin that amp (300/2) to a 500/1 and then gonna bridged those two speakers together for now till I get the w7 JL 13" sub or I might go with 2 w7 JL 10" or 12" subs ... any suggestions on which I should do?

1 = JL 13" w7

2 = JL 12" w7s

2 = JL 10" w7s?

Which would u choose? would two 12s by too much or two 10s just rite or just one 13 be adequate?

jl amps are a true to rating amp unlike a jbl 1200 lets say or a memphis 1000d even. the jbl is a 600 watt rms @4 ohm the 1000d is 350-400 watts @ 4 ohm being that subs are reactive in nature their impedence (ohms) changes alot while playing so under alot of conditions the jl amp ill sound as beefy if not stronger than the others. with a jl amp i would opt for the higher impedence wiring of the subs as the dampening factor would be higher. with the memphis 1000d and jbl amps you lose dampening with low impedence. i know you see the jl go from 500 to 600 watts with lower impedence but that 100 watts wont do much of anything noticable for you

do you ahve the dual 4 ohm ones? or the sinlge 4 ohm subs??

personally i would go 2 10" brahmas or blueprint 1003's or 1203's they would run right along up to a w7 but sound better imo and then you still would have a bank account lol

man its only 219 bucks for this sub? lol and ur recommendin it over the w7s?

the sub looks nice but for the price it just dun seem that good of a deal... also its only got 87 spl level which is really weak... i rather have high spl so I can get more out of the sub without turnin the amp up as loud if u know what I mean

ask ramos if its weak and the sensitivity means about nil. reason why it costs less is due to the fact it travels through 0 middlemen and it isnt advertised like the jl w7. 2 of those can do 150 plus easily and judging from the numbers i see from the w7 it would put it right on with it

yes running them you can get either an 8 ohm load, (series i belive) ora 2 ohm laod (pareallel)...
