its the higher end model from JL.

Personally I think all their amps are great.

Everyones not about power, i know this. This a class d amp, therefor a subwoofer amplifier. 250 watts for a sub? Sure, thats all great. Until you want to upgrade. Not saying everyone upgrades, but i would bet 95 percent will.

I give you that, he said not v2. I wouldn't buy an amp on ebay, period. Too many horror stories around here.

Everybody that has local shops that sell JL all think JL is just the shit. Sure, they are a good, quality brand, but waaay overpriced.

There are a lot of factors why people choose a brand, and there are factors why people don't. Price is one, if you don't want to pay for the JL brand, then don't. Just like any other type of merchandise, you pay for quality and brand reputation.

Yeah JL is a bit pricey. I tend to try not to ever spend what most people would pay. ie: if it's 675, I'll try to find one for 400-500. I'm not sure (cause I never looked) if there are any other reputable brands using multiple voltage rails inside their amps. I really like being able to have 1000w @ 4 ohms. That and a couple years ago I had a JL 1000/1 that I had to sell. Loved the sound and knew what I was getting when I got another one (for $400)

P.s. I can get another JL 1000/1 for $400 (my old one I sold to my cousin, which he didn't tell me he was selling until 2 days after I had gotten my current one.)

Using your philosophy, there is no need for an expensive, exotic or luxury car market then. Why pay the outrageous prices for an exotic or luxury car when you can get an import or domestic econobox that gets you from point A to point B just the same for less money?

What if the OP is just adding a subwoofer to accent a factory sound system? In many cases, those customers NEVER upgrade past the subwoofer. Plus, anything more than 250 watts RMS and you are looking at an amplifier that will overpower the factory sound system by a large margin.

I was just curious. I had the JL Audio 250/1 installed in my car with a small 10" sub in a PowerWedge truck box. I bought both of these used and everything was great for a while, until I blow the speaker in the box. I got the truck box with the 10" sub because I was just looking for a little low end filler.

Yesterday I couldn't stand the sound coming from my sub so I picked up a new JL sub in a custom build JL box. The guy I bought it from had a JL Audio e1200 amp and didn't want to sell just the box, so I got the amp too.

I just wasn't sure if I should switch amps, but based on the info above, I'm going to stick with what I already have installed. It really pushes the the sub and sounds great.

Any ideas of what to do with the blow sub and box and e1200 amp?

You have both amps, and you started a thread asking which is better, instead of actually doing some work and finding out for your self?
