JL Audio 8w7 with the Alpine PDX-5

I just purchased an 8w7 and was wondering if the Alpine PDX-5 amp would work with this? I've heard that because this a 3 ohm sub it wouldn't but the specs for the JL 250/1 (JL recommended) is the same ohm. Thanks in advance!

I would probably use a JL amp due to the 3 ohm load of the sub, but I would use nothing less than a 500/1.

Pretty sure the sub channel on the PDX-5 does 300 watts @ 2 and 4 ohms...so seeing as three is between them, it'll do the same power.

I would still give it more power... but 300 watts would be ok for it.

Well if the user isn't concerned about output, and he probably isn't since it looks like he's only running a single 8, then 300 watts should be plenty. Just don't expect insane amount of output from it.
