I have a JL audio 500/1 slash series amp. I got this amp about 4 years ago. It quit working on me a year after i had it. JL wanted 180 to diagnose and repair it. I didn't have the money at the time so i just went without. My setup at the time was the JL and a set of memphis audio M3 12's (not the mojos). They sound really good with this amp.
The problem started one morning i was headed to work and noticed there was no bump. I checked it out when i got to work and the amp was on but there was no sound coming from the sub. I ruled out the sub and confirmed it was working on a buddy's amp. So back to the amp i left it in the truck until i could get some information on it. Well that next morning my battery was dead. It took 10 minutes to jump off it was so dead. This continued for a few more days. I never thought to think the amp caused this until i removed it and i never had a dead battery again. There was never a burnt smell or anything to indicate it something was wrong with it.
What inside this amp would cause the no sound and draining of the battery. If i can fix it i want to tackle it to save the money but if its not worth my time i'll pay and send it off to JL.
