JL Audio 250/1 question (voltage and gain)

i'm running an Alpine 9887 HU that has a pre output voltage (Before Clipping) of 4volts.

The JL Audio 250/1 manual states that when you are feeding 4v pre-outs into the amp, the input should be set to 'high'. The problem is, with the Alpine sub setting set to 15 (0 lowest - 15 highest), i have to turn the gain knob almost all the way up.

The question I have is, since I have to turn the gain knob almost all the way up, would I be better selecting the input on the amp to 'low' and then lowering the gain knob down to level match?

Sorry if there is already a thread for it but I did not find one that answered my question... I'm sure its out there but I did not find it.

4v preouts are considered pretty "high", I would leave your gain there. Check your head unit for a subwoofer output setting, i usually listen to music on mine at like -18, but if i want to be an ******* ill put it at 0. Maybe yours is set really low right now, something to check out.

Here's the deal.

You want it set at LOW, high input is ONLY for using HU speaker wire for inputs. (if your HU doesn't have RCA pre out)

When you set the gain you should set your volume and your sub out put level at 75%, so your sub output should be 11.

(EDIT, the reason your having to turn your gain so far up is because you have it set at high, that will fix your problem)

(if you don't know how to propery set the gain on your JL amp read this. http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=143)

HERE is the 50HZ your going to need http://www.realmofexcursion.com/downloads.htm

160AH lithium that supports a 12K system is pretty lofty! I've seen dual 24's or quad 12's that will do this. Most of what 've run across is dual...

Turn the volume completely down and operate ot normally. This is to see if it is the built in amplifier that is shutting down. If the radio does...
