JL Audio 13W7-D-1.5

2 12w6's will be louder and will sound better than 1 13w7. If you want something that hits crazy hard and yet still sounds good for half the price, Get an Fi Audio BTL. The btls come in 12, 15, and 18. I heard the 18 in person at half power and wow, it blew my 1 w6 out of the water, and the quality was great imo. However the btls put out a lot of power, so your going to need some batteries and a nice powerful amp. The 12" BTL does 2000 watts rms, Ive heard people running 4000 watts to the btls daily. very powerful but dunno if you would actually want to do that. I saw a pic of a guy getting 146.10 DB using one 18.
Awesome, Im gonna try a 12 BTL on my LMS Ultra 15. 2kw seems like enough..

first off, whats your budget man? If your going to be running under 2000 watts to the sub than it will be pointless to get the btl. If your going to be running a solid 3k watts to the sub than that will be perfect, but your going to need a new alternator for your car and they get pretty expensive. Plus an extra battery or two which I suggest you get from kinetik or C&D Tech.

That's fine. I mean, I'm not gonna do it right now. I'm actually just looking into stuff right now and saving for what I find I like the most. That's what's important to me. Getting something I want lol.

So i just bit the the bullet and got a W7 & a 1000 V2.

I also looked @ Digital Designs and Arc Audio. I was kinda putt off by the sales people @ the two places i visited.

I was honest and said i had three companies in mind JL, DD & ARC. I asked what they could recommend in terms of solutions.

And it was a pretty awful experience and the attitudes reminds me of the crotch rocket wars from my early years. It was stupid then and even more ridiculous now .

I work in Sales and i never ever will make disparaging comments i heard about someone else's product. Let the product speak for itself and leave it at that.

Give the customer the info they need and let him/her make what ever choice they feel inclined to make.

And the math ends up working out the same unless you already have $$ invested into your system.

Sound proofing, proper wires, battery, alternator, re-enforcing my trunk liner etc...

Asking a shop about a charging system that would be compatible for these systems was also and interesting experience.

Also I have a CAP from my old system to hold me over until i get an isolator & and a HC600.

But after allot of reading and listening. It was an eye opening experience and after much $$ spent.

I have a system that makes me smile every time i see traffic on the free way and i turn my music up.

Will i do it differently in the future?? Heck yea i will.

Will i consider using arc or DD in my future car??

I don't honestly know. Maybe i will drive out further and talk to some other shops.

Or just have the guys who installed my system bring the stuff in so i don't have to deal with that none sense again.

I also got to preview a few systems from some competition folks.

Some made sense and sounded good for daily commuting. Some sounded horrible but had trophies to back it up.

Kinda of interesting experience.

I would say go big as you can, which ever box will fit is also something to keep in mind.

I love my stuff.

Also this is my experience. I thought the W7 sounded to me and what i listened to be the best of the bunch.

Also I wanted some trunk space and didn't want to revamped my entire electrical system.

I ran a 12 w7 on a 500/1 in my hatchback for years. I had it metered once and did a 138.5 at 45 Hz. I would say I was rather pleased with the sub, to this date it was the loudest, cleanest, deepest sub I've ever ran. Even though I was happy with it, I personally wouldn't say it was perfect. It was great for low end but wasn't the best for rock music with quick beats, etc. To the OP, and anyone else looking for a sub, I would suggest doing research to understand what the specs of a subwoofer mean. Depending on what your goals are, certain subs will help you to reach those goals better than others. The enclosure a sub is in is also going to be a determining factor in how well the sub is going to perform. So does the amp you're running for that matter and the ohm load the sub will be running at.
