JL Audio 12w3v3 in a ported wedge, right amp and general advice!!

I recently purchased a 12w3v3 and it is housed in a ported wedge box. I am hoping it could provide substantial bass since my 12w6v2 is in a huge ported box and would not fit. The audio shop was useless and since the car had an Alpine MRP-350 amp in it I decided to use that to be safe. I do have a JL Audio 500/1 amp though I am considering to use it but am not sure if the sub and enclosure specifications would be safe, no popping or blow the sub..

Any insight would be highly appreciated.

Now the audio shop set the gain on the amp set to the max and I put the sub setting to max on the alpine dash unit otherwise I would not hear any bass. That is the only way I can even hear some reasonable bass. I also cannot put the stereo too high otherwise the sound the sub replicates is not good, sounds terrible (like on the verge of popping or some dangerous sound).

Now depending on the ohms the MRP-350 is capable of,

RMS Power at 4 ohms = 200 watts x 1

RMS Power at 2 ohms = 350 watts x 1

If the JL Audio 500/1 is safe with this sub with considerations to the ported wedge box I will put it in, what would you guys do?

I just realized the subwoofer is a 12w3v3-8

8 ohm resistance.. So from that I can decipher they pull less watts from my amp. Now what is the benefits of having an 8-ohm subwoofer?

I feel like I should try to get a refund for one that can take more from my amplifiers.. I bet they would give me a hard time though..
