I was chatting with my local JL dealer the other day and they told me this amp was extremely power hungry pulling sometimes well over 100 amps, which they explained was unusual for an amp its size. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with it drawing more current than other amps its size.

thanks

so you are saying a 500/1 draws the most of amps its size? thanks for the info, I already have a 200 A alternator but my buddy was wanting a simple 1 sub setup with the 500/1 and didnt know if it truly was "power hunger"

thanks again

any other input?

I have a 120 amp alt and the amp had no problems. Plus as long as you are between 11-14 volts it will not matter.
the output of the amplifier wont matter as long as it is between that voltage range, but it needs to get to 11 volts first to put out 500 watts. if you have an extemely weak alternator, then it will defenitly matter

the only time i notice a difference was when i ran it at 1.3 ohms if i crank it up it will constantly trip my 120 amp circuit breaker
