well I fryed my amp a couple weeks ago, but am getting it fixed cant wait to get it back....

Well, my amp fryed when I installed my Kenwood ddx-6019, I hooked everything up fine and when I turned it on it started smoking, and the statues light just stayed on... same thing happend to my JL 200/1 before.....

But my question is How do I prevent it from frying again?

I have a 4ga wire with a 80amp fuse, which then is connected to a cap then to the amp..

any help would be appreciated, and no im not gonna buy another amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

OK, I made a drawing how it was hooked up...

WIRE.jpg

The car is a 87 mustang, with stock alt. like 75swatts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

the power wire is fused from the battery with a 80amp fused, from there it goes to a cap (1-1.5 farad), from the cap it is hooked up to the amp....

but am gonna change the fuse to 150amp then split each power to each amp to like 60amp on each JL...

see anything wrong or recommend.....

Update:

I found out that couple of the mosfet were burnt in the power supply area...

Also, does anyone know what can I do to prevent this from happening again?

Make shure its hooked up right. That means at least 4 ga wire, 0 ga is better. Make shure it doesnt move. Ground it with same ga as power wire to a good clean ground. Make shure you other equip is functionally as it should. If this doesnt make sense, have someone professionally install it for you.

ok.....

ok so should I go 0 ga. from the batt. then split it from a power dist. to 4 ga. wire, 1 - 300/4 and 1-500/1.....

also I had a cap hooked up before, should I hook it up again or leave it off?
