JL 12Wv2-8 question.

I found a craigslist ad for two Jl 12Wv2-8 subs w/o box for a Benjamin. I sent the guy an email saying I'd take it, then I thought, what would the 8ohm rating affect? So I came here. What would two of these powered to say 250ish out of their reccomended 300W RMs? More sq or SPL? Im more looking for spl.

JL subs arent known for "SPL". But I'm no expert on JL equipment, maybe someone else can chime in on your particular model. But with 2 8ohm drivers, you will need your desired power @ 4ohm. That's usually easier/cheaper to do with a 2channel amp bridged.

those subs dont know what SPL means.

if loud is what your wanting then those may not be your best choice.

As far as for JL, the W3's (at least the original w3's) can get fairly loud.

Out of the lineup, they would most likely be the better for spl. IMO

Just use a ported box and tune higher than normal, say 40ish and they should be good.

Ok, so they are not loud subs. But what effect would the 8 ohm impedance have? Would I need a very powerful amp?
