Jensen VM9512 software upgrade?

I just got off the phone with the Jensen tech support and they mentioned they had a software upgrade for this multimedia head unit, resolving some of the issues with the iPhone address book transfer and general Bluetooth reliability. Then I was passed on to customer service to discuss how to obtain the upgrade but I ran into a roadblock as they insisted that another department is actually handling this upgrade and I can't talk directly to them, they would forward my request instead and someone would call me back. Oh well ...

Has anybody done this upgrade yet? If yes, what are the fixes? Is it worth it jumping through all these hoops?
