Jeep YJ, getting loud.

Whats up CA,

Looking to install a 10'' in my YJ but unfortunately now that im in an apartment I have no place to build a custom box. I was curious what you guys thought about this. I know these pre built boxes **** spec wise but im wondering If I can make this work. This is what im thinking.

This box is nice because it has the cutout for all the trunk latches. So im thinking about modding it. There are 2 separate chambers. I was thinking about cutting out the center of the inside to make one big 2.5 cu Ft chamber. Then from the inside just putting a piece of MDF over one of the 10'' holes, drilling it down and sealing the seams from both sides. Now I have a single 10'' enclosure with a 2.5 cu ft chamber.

Then I was thinking about putting some aero ports on the back side. If I run the aero ports out the back under the back seat I can keep the internal volume probably around 2.3 cu ft after disp. So like 1 3" aero on the opposite side of the driver.

Any thoughts on this? Totally stupid? Would I be better off leaving it the way it is and putting 2 10s in and leaving it sealed?

I think doing the mods above with the single chamber, single 10 and ports is going to get me louder. Im going for mostly SPL since SQ in a jeep is pointless.

Alright, after some figuring, I think im going for it. patching up one of the openings and cutting out the center divider. Going with 1 AQ HD10 driver, 1 4'' Aero port out the side tuned to 40hz. This should give me 2 cu ft after dis. Ill run all of it off a SAZ1200D for the time being and see how it sounds.

With such limited space I really cant upgrade the driver so in the near future I may go with a little bigger Alt and try and feed the 10 somewhere closer to 2k.
