Hey guys, this thread was originally posted in the Enclosure forum but I haven't been able to update it for a while. Anyway, here we go.
BACKGROUND
Our shop started on this project about a month and a half ago when one of customers came to us wanted to augment the resurrection of his 94 Jeep.
This is what he wanted.
-In dash DVD
-Custom fiberglass
-Ridiculous bass
-Some neon accents
With this we were able to draw up an incredible system for him on his budget and run with it. It was really fun and I hope you guys enjoy looking at it as much as we enjoyed working on it.
STEP ONE
Dynamat, and more Dynamat. We laid over 80ft^2 of Dynamat Xtreme, when it was all said and done. The majority of it was focused on the doors, roof, and hatch.
STEP TWO
Box design. He wanted some ridiculous SPL but also a decent sounding daily driver. So he picked out a couple of Rockford T215D4's and went with a 5ft^3 box tuned to 30Hz. The real trick was figuring out how to lay it out so that the two subs and the T20001bd and T8004 fit well and looked menacing. Especially since we were adding some brushed aluminum and custom plexi "ICE EDGING".
STEP THREE
Mids and Highs. We decided to go with a pair of JL Audio XR components up front and some VR components in the rear for fill. These were powered with a Rockford T8004 amp.
STEP THREE
Power. We installed a Stinger SP1000 battery with trick digital monitoring interconnects and a Stinger 225A HO alternator. The Big Three was done using 1/0AWG Stinger Expert cable. Power is supplemented with a Rockford 25F carbon cap. All RCA cable were Stinger expert and speaker wire was done in 10AWG Stinger Expert.
STEP FOUR
Source Unit. Customizing the Eclipse AVN 5495 unit into the dash was interesting. It involved cutting the radio trim and using a little body filler around where the unit will sit. Here you can also see we are starting to implement our system color scheme also, more on this later.
In this trim panel we also mounted the Rockford Bass Knob and the interface for the Bell Pro RX75 radar detector.
STEP FOUR
Interior. Since we were adding some custom Katzkin leather seats, we went with the Ostrich Leather (yes, I said Ostrich Leather) and green leather/vinyl throughout the vehicle. You can see that we added it to the dash, and all four doors.
STEP FIVE
Hatch area. This is obviously where most of our time was spent but as you can see, it was very worth it. The Ostrich leather with the green and aluminum accents look fantastic. Not to mention the neon in the plexi "Ice Edging".
