Jeep Fart Box Build Log (HELLA PICS)

heh im peaking at 35 hz at the moment //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif
what do you mean by "headliner" ? you should keep the ports about 1-2" from the rear door, and really you want to build up pressure in the opposite rear corner of the jeep from the mic. At least that's what ive found in the 2.3 million box'es ive had in my jeep in the last 3 years //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
ive always heard that the subs, when firing up, should be close to something like the headliner

or when you're firing back they should't be too far away from the hatch

Well, to each his own, but I was thinking that if you painted the whole box black, it would blend in with the rest of the jeep's interior a lot better. That way, it won't be as obvious to people passing by your car that you have a bunch of audio in the back.
the tint is so **** dark you can barely see anyways

besides.... that sheet laying in there by the drivers seat.....

i throw that bish over it when im parking it for a while

if he's got 10% or less on the windows, you really cant see to much in jeep's anyways. I think his box looks great.

Yeah, I guess that'll get it done then. Good job on the build.

it may be a different vehicle, but when I had the box about 2" from the back of my old Explorer it was decently louder on the meter than when I pushed it farther forward... food for thought.
so 2" on the hatch is better on the meter than say...5"?

you too snoopdan...ive always heard 4-5"..but you say 1-2"? im not gonna doubt you either considering your accomplishments, but thats two people in two different SUV's and i would like to know (i own an explorer).

not trying to thread jack, just think this information would be nice //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

i think the O.P.'s subs are wayyyyyyyy too far ahead of where they should be... if you look they are past the door jamb in the back, thats not good (in my opinion, I could be wrong)...

and I was at the last SLAP show up here (t3audios_160sdbjeep was there too, in Sanford) and I actually lost 3/10db by moving my box ahead towards the windshield about 2"... Im not sure why in the hell I did that but it wasnt my Explorer it was my buddies since my CRX shit the bed. In hindsight, I would have pushed the thing nearly all the way to the back. I know Toby's box is pretty snug against the back of his Explorer/Mountaineer/whatever he is using now or at least it was...

i have been told a few times by competitors that you want to have the boxes as close to the hatch as possible (at least in explorers). i dont compete so take that with a grain of salt

also, whose Toby?

err my bad, Toby is a buddy who has an Explorer and just switched out to a Mountaineer.

yes subs and port closer to hatch/rear area, as opposed to box being so long that half of the sub box is on back seat...

thats my opinion, take it with a grain of salt lol

Really anything in the range of 2-5 inches is where you need to start testing what is better for your setup. I also suggest taking off the back door interior panel and filling the entire door full of spray foam (but obviously not the door lock, lol) Also filling your rear quarter panels with "something" weather it be foam, insulation, whatever - but something dense enough to fill the voids in the body. That would be a great aim in the right direction.
