jbl w12gti question

so ive nearly gotten everything for my system....except the subwoofers i want...

so far i've gotten:

pioneer deh-p780mp

hifonics titan 200x2

infinity reference 6022i 6.5 2-ways

and a hifonics bxi2006d

i originally planned on 2 kicker l7's but after some research, i've decided i'll spend a lil extra and get the jbl w12gti's and im pretty pumped about it, on to my question though...

hifonics claims:

1-Ohm Power Rating 1x2000

2-Ohm Power Rating 1x1300

4-Ohm Power Rating 1x650

according to my half-assed calculations then the amp should be "claiming" 1650 watts at 1.5 ohms. From what I read hifonics are good bang for your buck amps, but overrated so im guessing maybe ill be getting 1200-1300 rms?(please correct me if you know otherwise) and im very concerned that it wont be enough to push these subs hard enough. I've spent a lot of time designing a box i think should sound good and it's a daily driver, but i'd at least like to get into the 130's . Is it likely with that sub/amp combo or should i consider doing something different? I'm pretty set on getting these subs but if any of you experts here think ill be completely wasting my time let me know. -thanks.

Do your big three and get an extra batt and you should get pretty close to the power you need from that amp.

You will definitly break the 130 mark, with the full 2k you probbaly break 140's.

Get the subs and wire it up then if it is not loud enough you get a 2k amp that does it at 2 ohms and you are set.

thats a bit relieving, I am getting a HO alternator thats supposed to be 225 amps (being built by a alleged mechanical guru friend of my fathers), and something about a different pully so my amps at idle will be better. I was told by that same fellow that the big 3 was a must, and a second battery would be a good idea. speaking of, does anyone know of a good interstate battery i could use? I only ask because I could practically bill it elsewhere as long as it's distributed by interstate.

here is a clip of my 2 12" jbl mkll of a bpx2200.1. so each sub got like 800 watts does a 142.6 term lab

and whats that box tuned to?? my friend gets more flex with a 15" MX off 800 watts in a trunk

They'll be "properly" powered. By the time you account for power compression, impedance rise etc. they'll be doing as well on that amp as you hope.

Your "half-assed" calculations are wrong also. Power vs. impedance is not a linear function. 1.5 ohms is not half way between 1 and 2 ohms. Since that amp doesn't double power between going from 2 to 1 ohms, getting even really in the ballpark of what it would be rated at is impossible. I would figure the 2 ohm number is going to be pretty close to what you'll actually get. Again, not something that I'd get wrapped up about.
