lookin to buy a 12" jbl gti. need some help with an enclosure and picking an amp.

enclosure: will be building out of 1" mdf. will be sealed, not ported. looking for Cu.Ft specs?? or specific box deminsions that will make this sub slam??

amp: looking at the power and grand touring series from JBL/Crown. 700 rms on the sub & 3 ohms final.

power series - BPX500.1 - 718 watts @4 ohms or 674 watts @ 1 ohm (est 700 watts @ 3 ohms)

Grand Touring Series - GTO1201 - 787 watts @ 4 ohms or 1114 watts @ 2 ohms (est. 950 watts @ 3 ohms)

What would you recomend?

Better punch = 18L

Extension = 28L

Since you will be 3ohms ... the bpx is nearly as powerful as the gto and a better amp in reality.

May I ask why not ported. Also sealed is sealed as long as it is the right displacement the shape dosen't matter.

well, i would port if it wont take THAT much airspace....

what cu ft would you recomend? or what box measurments?

and tuned to what frequency?

55L ported at 24Hz is a good mix of SQ and SPL

24 hz is a little low for car use... that will take a lot of room

My W10GTi was in 1.75cf tuned to 28Hz. Sounded amazing and got loud off only a GTO601.1

Atleast give it the GTO1201.1. It can handle more but do that at the least.

why ya sellin it? i read on there that you love that sub...

how does 2-2.25 cu.ft. tuned to 27-30hz sound? and would the dimensions of the box matter and long as that is the airspace?

i wanna go with kicker amps for the price i can get them... the 1000.1 would be like 800-850 rms @ 3ohms and the 1500.1 would be 1250 rms @ 3ohms.
