JBL BP600.1 Amp

I have an old, but barely used JBL mono sub amp. Is has both right and left inputs and the JVC R900 head unit has both right and left outputs for the subwoofer. I only have a single RCA cable run under the carpet that is not used at this time. Is the subwoofer signal from the head unit a mono signal or do I have to have both sides hooked up? What about on the amp end?

you mean it isn't really a mono signal after all, but is combined R + L at the amp?

Most mono amps combine the signal of Left and Right and put out a mono signal.. just because it requires L & R for best performance doesnt mean its not a Mono amp..

All mono subwoofer amps combine the L and R to make a mono signal to the subs, one is so the signal will be stronger and two some music only have bass on either the left or right channel and you'll lose that bass signal if it isn't hooked up.

Hey bro, do yourself a huge favor and run the RCAs from your HU to the amp, at the amp you will notice 4 RCA inputs. Put a RCA splitter on the end of each RCA so you now have enough male connectors to plug into each of the inputs. You will now have the FULL POWER that amp puts out. Its a bad *** amp now! I would put it up against any RF T1000.1

you only need the right and left rcas hooked up that jbl just gave you a extra set of rcas and speaker outputs to ease installation
