JBL 2200...need some problem solvers on here..

soo my 2200 hasnt been working for the past few weeks and i havnt had enough time to look at it, well today i looked at it and everything is wired correctly and such and it is getting power but its in protect mode for some reason, then today driving home i was listenng to a CD pretty loud, no bass because the amp isnt working, all of a sudden i get a huge burst of bass, it scared the shit out of me i thought somehting hit me, i realized that it was my subs, they played for like half a second then shut off again, the amp is still in protect mode...what could make the amp act like this?

one of your subs could possibly be blown. A melted VC can cause a - and a + to touch each other in the VC causing it to go into protect.

I suggest taking out the subs and connect one at a time and make sure none of your wires are touching, terminals on the sub and terminals on the box.

Thats your first thing to check when an amp goes into Protect, is your wiring

i just notcied that on the amp my - came lose, i reconnected it but its still in protect mode, so i guess ill have to take the subs out *sigh* i rrreeallly hope it isnt blown because they dont make the TDXs anymore and i would have to buy one used or something...grrr, plus i dont have the money right now

I know what you mean when you say you dont have the money right now... My old Rockford Punch 100 for my comps just blew today. Smokey.
