It's your choice to buy from wherever you want.

people come here saying what they would like, MOST of the time (ie:95%) we tell them they can get the SAME QUALITY PRODUCT for cheaper. Not that they can get the SAME PRODUCT for cheaper. Your friend is retarded for not filing a complaint, or knowing what to look for.

I buy my stuff online just because we have a single car audio store here who was trying to sell me a $250 sub for $600. I told him I had $800 to spend and he told me for that much I could get an allright sub, no amp/box/HU/wires...just a sub. When in all I spent about $300 and have a system that can almost hit 150db.

If there was somebody who didnt care just about money around here I would probably buy from him.

I used to buy all my stuff in shops.. back when i could find a local shop with knowledgeable sales people.. who actually took the time to find out what system would make me happy... but then i moved to the midwest and still havent found a shop worth two shits.. so i buy online..

i would love to buy everything from a shop and have them install it.. btu every shop ive been into here sucks big *** monkey ballz.. Tell them you want a SQ orientated system and they will try to sell you some eclipse 5x7's (front & rear) and a L7..

* And by buying cheap, I can sell cheap, which enables more people to own the equipment, which bolsters the popularity of the industry in general, in turn fueling the demand for product, paying the audio shop's rent.
Well, that and the $24.99 wiring harness. That pays their rent too. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif
Your points are well taken Cybe.

Retarded huh, (a) Maybe he just took a friends advice who he thought knew more than he did and I sent him here because I've got nothing but good advice here.

I guess it's not possible that he is just a noob.

(b) how do you know he didnt file a complaint (he did)

you are complaing about buying on the internet on... duh duh duh... the internet. we wouldn't have anything to talk about if we just recommended everyone go to their local shop. not to mention it's hard to get you to come to Glenview, IL just cuz i think my local shop is awesome.

that would be "dee dee dee"

i dont see why this started a problem with some people. i agree with the original poster. for my own needs i follow this rule.

i buy local IF it is something that is prone to breaking IE head units. face plates and plate motors are much more likely to break and i like having a place to walk into right away and get a new one without having a few weeks of down time waiting for an online place to repair/or replace it.

for things like subs and for amp i find that if hooked up right and used as it is meant to be used most of the time they will last a VERY long time. so in the case of subs and amps i have no problem buying online.

i also weigh the cost. not just the cost of the item but the cost of dealing online as well. for instance. if only buying something that cost 300 in the store and 250 online. i will buy local for ease and the security of having a B&M store to walk into with a problem. the 50 bucks simply is not worth the lose in convenience.. normaly i need it to save me around 100-150 bucks or more to consider buying online.

IE: I bought my subs and sub amp for 900. it would have cost me nearly 1800 in a local store (all kicker).

I think alot of it comes from the fact that most of the popular online super subs are not available in stores. atleast not many. so most fo the views are going to say buy online. but the buyer needs to figure out whats works best for them.
