It's your choice to buy from wherever you want.

Hence why I said GENERALLY. There are definatly shops out there who couldnt give a flying **** at a donut about the customer once their money is in the till.

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif That's ALL of the shops in this area, although audio advantage may not be like that, they are new, and every time I've delt with them they've been ok.

ANYWAY... You don't like the advice we give, then KINDLY....

FOAD.

Just as an //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif I work for a shop...Install. And guess what, everything in my truck is purchased online. Some purchase online because of product availability...Find me a B&M that sells SoundSplinter RL-p's. The only thing I purchased from my Shop is my HU, everything else is online. So before you start banging on people because they go online because its cheap, DO A LITTLE SEARCHING FIRST.

I dont think the purpose of this thread was to slam people for buying online. I dont think he ever said that people buying stuff online was a sin. I think the point was that people are often to quick to point out online stores as being the best place to buy goods. Sometimes online is the best place, and other times people should be directed to B&M stores. Its kinda like when people start throwing out troubleshooting advice on systems without knowing the whole story.

I don't think internet-based companies is what the thread starter was referring to //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Moreso internet retailers and ebay auctions.

Though I do agree with your product availability statement....your example just sucked with regard to the original intent of the thread //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

For example...I was looking to purchase an Alpine 9860...nothing fancy or exotic...a nice headunit from a "mainstream" manufacturer, of which there are multiple dealers in my area.

Called every dealer within a reasonable driving distance of my area....none of them had any, couldn't find the price of one, or even had any idea what it was.

So, called a dealer in another state that I somewhat know a guy at. Exact same scenario. None in stock, couldn't even tell me a price, and had no idea what it even was.

So, turned to an e-friend who owns a shop and was awesome enough to find it for me and sell it to me at a good price. Had it not been for this e-friend, my only resort for purchasing a relatively "standard" product from a mainstream brand would have been internet websites/ebay.

Another thing to consider; As enthusiasts, we tend to switch equipment constantly. So while a two-year warranty from the shop down the street may work for you, many of us only need about six months out of that headunit/amp/anything, and saving that hundred (two hundred) bucks makes sense.

* And by buying cheap, I can sell cheap, which enables more people to own the equipment, which bolsters the popularity of the industry in general, in turn fueling the demand for product, paying the audio shop's rent.

Well, that and the $24.99 wiring harness. That pays their rent too. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif
