I have a new Kenwood KAC 7204 (http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113KAC7204/Kenwood-KAC-7204.html?search=7204) powering some rockfords (http://www.crutchfield.com/p_575P2L212/Rockford-Fosgate-P2L-212.html?search=fosgate+enclosed). At first, they worked like a charm for about 2 days after installation. The bass was nice and booming and more or less what i was expecting. Then, the in line fuse on the power line blew, as well as the one on the amp itself. The in line one was only a 30amp fuse, when it needed a 40 amp fuse, so my bad, but a Simple fix. the amp itself blew a 40 amp one however, but i still replaced it.
the amp seemed like it was working fine again after i replaced them both, but i noticed that at higher volumes, it just cuts out. At lower volumes, i can clearly hear the subs producing nice sounding bass, but once i crank it up, it just kind of dies off. i can still feel them vibrating a little, but they are not producing nearly as much sound as they did before. Im pretty certain it is not a wiring problem due to the loud bass it produced before the fuses blew, but other than that, Im in the dark.
The only other pieces of information i can provide is that the amp itself gets very hot to the touch within a matter of minutes (which i think is normal anyway) and that i am bridging it at 500 watts rms to power 400watts rms rated subs. The subs themselves appear to be working perfectly, so i doubt they are blown
