Issue with new speaker

Just installed new speakers into my '97 ford explorer with a JVC KD-PDR40 head unit that i've had for 3-4 years now and my front right speaker has had a tendency to drop power/volume every 5-10 mins until I push more power into it. This was happening with my stock stereo speaker (thought it was a problem with the speaker itself seeing how it was quite blown when I took it out). I reversed the left and right speaker connections and this seemed to fix the problem but after I returned the speakers to the proper wiring the same problem began just a short time later. Could this be a problem with the actual wiring in my car or harnesses or is it time to start looking for a new head unit?

I'm new to car audio so I may have overlooked some simple fix...let me know what y'all think

You could have possibly wired the speaker connections wrong??You can pop out the HU and check to see which wire/color you have for the +/- for that speaker? It only taks me about ten min, to pull my dash cover out to pop the stereo out.Doesnt hurt to check real quick. What I would do..//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
