Is this true about Slot port boxes?

ok so,Is it true that you should minus the width of port(3.75" inches in my case) from the total length of the port length? I was told the back wall can act as a port extension or something.

I was just curious if this is true or not?
If it is a slot port, take away half of the port width from the port length.

 
It *adds* effective port length if it shares a wall with the enclosure.

When calculating how long to cut that inner piece, yes. Again, check your modeling software. I suspect 2" off either way is not going to be audible.
