Is this the right choice?

First off I want to say hi to everyone as I'm new to the forums. I wanna do a simple and clean install in my 2015 Lexus IS350. Im thinking about either 1 12" or 2 10s and no greater than 1500RMS to the subs.

I have a chance to grab a JL Audio 13W7 for $375 just for the sub. I was thinking of getting it and placing it in a 2.5 net cubic box tuned to 34 hertz. And for a amp I'd probably just pick up a JL HD 1200.

This got me thinking though. With that size box I could run 2 10s but lower RMS rating between 600-750. The box could also be a bit bigger between 2.5 - 3 cubes net and tuning would be the same 34 hertz or maybe go down to 32 hertz. As for power I was thinking a true 1500RMS amp like the Rockford Fosgate T1500BDCP. I saw this box online and think its pretty good? What would you do? Take the JL W7 or go with 2 10s? I want it to be clear loud and hit lows. I do listen to rap music mostly but also listen to indian music.

My choices for the 2 10s would be

JL Audio W6v3

MTX 9500 (silver ones)

Sundown SA

DC Lv3

Alpine R Series (2017 model)

Soundqubed HDS2.1

that box looks like is very nice box

very good cu ft for the 2 type R´s

too big for the dc lv3 (recomended 1cuft for each sub so 2 cuft and the box is 3cuft)

too big for the SA (recomended 1.0-1.25 cu ft for each sub so 2 or 2.5 cuft and the box is 3cuft)

too big for the mtx9500 (recomended 1.0-1.25 cu ft for each sub so 2 or 2.5 cuft and the box is 3cuft)

soo is u want that box probably ur best net are tha alpine type R... one thing i can tell u they hit hard //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

too big for the JL w6v3 (recomended 0.75 cu ft for each sub so 1.5 cuft and the box is 3cuft)

Well I dont have to buy that box it's just an option as I can get one built to spec to whatever subs. Which would you say would be the best? In thinking the mtx and sundown. I should not get the 13w7?

As far as the soundqubed there not good your saying?

W7 is a good woofer but overpriced. I’d go with the 2 10s, look at Dayton ho series too as they are in that rms range or ask denim when the SSA gcon will be ready

whats your goal in terms of sound? spl? sq? sql? allround/daily use?

mtx and type r to me are the "best" for daily use

jl audio, dc, HDS and Sa are more spl sub they will punish you on daily use cuz they r some beast :p

but if u know that w7 and u allready know what kind off bass u r getting go for it its a very nice sub but be aware of the registance JL audio are 1.5 ohms per coil not 2 or 4 they do that to make u use JL amps if u are going to the w7 remenber u can wire it on 3ohms or 0.75 ohms....

Do you have experience with the new type r 2017 models or the older ones

i had one of the firts type R 10" 300rms 1000 max but my friend has 2 12" since 2014 i think but for what i see the new one´s are even bether... if or when my pioneers die i will go for type R //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif just take a tour on you you tube u can sem some nice vids there

I'm debating on the 13w7 on a jl hd1200. Or getting 2 10s of the new alpine type r or maybe even the x series and the sundown sa in a Rockford fosgate t1500bdcp. I think the old MTX 9500 will be hard to find

The rf amp is good but we can find you a similar brand for cheaper. 2 tens would be more cone area. In the right box, anything on 1500 watts should get fairly loud. Out of those choices, I’d take the SA.

So 2 10s Sundown SA's on 1500RMS and a box that's 2.5 net cubic feet tuned to 32 hertz should slam? How much louder would it be compared to a single 13w7 on 1200rms

Makes sense. You may be right on the gain; 2 subs on 300 watts seems anemic.
