i have two PIONEER 4 ohm 1200w dual voice coil subs ( ts-w307d4), i believe they are 400w rms but they are 400w nominal power for sure. i want to buy a hifonics brutus bxi2008d, 2000w amp. it pushes 2000w @ 1 ohm. i want to wire my subs together which will come out to 2400w @ 1 ohm ! is this set up ok ?

if the amp pushes 2000w and the subs together are 2400w, shouldnt this set up be okay ?

i understand how the power ratings work now. but give a str8 answer, or dont answer at all, *****ES. if i asked a question it means i dont know, thats why i asked so i can learn what it really means. so answer the question and save ya quick-slick *** comments.

Dude, the only thing that matters is your amp rating. Your subs do not make power, they use it. So your amp is rated to make 2000W. Great, but what does that really mean?

You have two dual 4 ohm subs that need to be wired to one output. There are only two ways to do that.

Now your amp has these ratings:

RMS Power @ 4 ohms: 650 watts x 1

RMS Power @ 2 ohms: 1300 watts x 1

RMS Power @ 1 ohm: 2000 watts x 1

So if you run your subs at 1 ohm, your amp will make 2000W. But if you wire your subs to 4 ohm, it will only make 650W.

Since your subs are rated for 400W RMS, I would highly suggest the 4 ohm method. The 1 ohm method would be sending each woofer 1000W. That would blow those subs rather quickly.

To the other poasters, sorry if I fed the troll, but I was that bored.

theres no point to get that amp if its not gonna give the subs rated power.

like said before get something around 1000-1200wrms at 1ohm.

I agree. I was so amazed at the noobish question that I didn't even take it that far. i was just trying to show him why that amp was not really a good fit. If he did buy that amp, he would have to run it at 4 ohm, which is a waste.
