To be completely honest here I'm not even sure what I have here. All this stuff was given to me by my uncle and I just went and had it installed.

What I'd like to know is how good/reliable my subs are? Forgive my illeteratecy on this stuff but I believe those are 10" DVC punch RF's.

I know my amp is a little underpowered for the subs. Well thats what I was told anyway.

i can't tell what that amp is but it looks like an older soundstream reference is that right?

The subs will be fine but maybe in the future you'll choose to upgrade. RF aren't top of the line but honestly there's nothing wrong with any of their stuff

Yes its a Soundstream amp. 405 Reference series. When it was installed they told me that the amp wasn't powerful enough for the subs and that if I played at higher volumes that there was a chance of blowing my subs.

One thing I'm curious about though is how to tell whether or not the cap is working properly. I mean when the subs are really booming and if the reading lights on they fade everyime the subs pound. I think this is probably normal anyway but I'm not sure.

Thats what I was thinking actually. But thats what the installer told me.

He either told me wrong or I just heard wrong I guess.

yep, dont worry about blowing them if its underpowered

maybe the installer turned the gains up on the amp since it was underpowered therefore at higher volumes the amp could clip and maybe blow the subs
