Is this idea correct?

I get a set of comps and my sub. If I get a 4-channel amp, I can run my comps off of the front channel and my subs off the rear. But, instead of using the rear outputs on my deck, I can use the sub out and still control my sub from my deck?

you could do it that way but i wouldn't do it that way. i would use all 4 channel of a sundown 100.4 amp and then buy a MONO channel amp to push my sub(s) so you would be running 2 amps.

in my opion which is probaly wrong 4channel amps aren't tuff enough to push subs! put it this way a 4channel amp puts out what 100-200rms bridged and most subs need what at least 500rms to sound good!!

It's completely doable. Actually JL and Alpine are creating amps that will do this quite well.

You could run your passive components from the front two channels, power rears from HU, and bridge your two rear channels for 1 or 2 subs.

Many 4 channel amps are designed to give you the ability to have a limited amount of control over each channel, thus being able to run those rear two channels only LPF.

There are a ton of different things you could do.

if it is a good 4ch amp it will be fine. the bridged channels will more than likely not be stable under 4 ohms so make sure your total imp is no less than 4 ohms on your sub's

welll actualy i guess it is doable! actualy an alternative would be to get a 5 channel amp which are made to run 4channel (comp) and 1 sub!!! although the name of the good ones escapes me right now but i know they cost a fair red penny lol!

The arc ks 300.4 would run the system the way you are talking about nicely.
