IS this guy bsing me?

Im just getting into the whole sub thing this summer...only thing i have in my truck right now is a Alpine MRP-T220 and a pair of TS-A6961R's...it gets loud but im looking for more bass now

So I go to this local car audio shop and tell the dude im looking for 2 10's and an amp for my truck i tell him i have limited room blah blah then he trys telling me that he will be getting a pioneer premier 12" sub (he didnt say which one)with a custom box for a truck that will sound louder than any 2 10's i buy....now im not to sure on subs and ive read that premeir is good but is that even close to being true? and he wants 250$ for the sub and box.... im still looking around for subs right now if anyone would like to give me some pointers on where to look i have about like a 6 inch mounting depth give or take and 40 inches wide

it's not true that it is going to be louder than any two 10's that you buy.

I'm assuming this is a single cab truck?

I had a single cab F-150 and the loudest setups I had was three 10" Type E's and a single 12" Type S, louder than two 12" Type R's and louder than two 15" DD 2515's, it's all about airspace.

If you want my opinion, stick the amp under your seat and get a box for two ported 10's, and it'd be the best way to go.

Do you want to get reallly loud and sound okay, or do you want to get a SQL type ordeal going?

If you're just looking to get fairly loud fairly cheap, I'd try two kicker Comp VR's on a nince 600 or so watt amp

are there anyplaces that sell ported truck boxes(or could i just buy a normal one a cut a hole in it?) and yes its a single cab so im working with like 7 inches or so im not really sure how much i want to spend yet...just graduated high school and have some money to play with

You just cant cut a hole in a normal box and say its ported lol. Its alot more complicated than that.

Well what 10's were you going to buy, what he said could very well have been true. Obviously a blanket statement that that 12 would be louder than ANY 2 10's is not true though. Based on your posts, you need to read all the sticky's here at least, and educate yourself as much as possible on the subject.

Sounds like the $250 would be a better idea now. Have the shop install everything for you
