all wiring is 0 gague. any recomendations on fuse size?

250-300a fuses

You also need another fuse between batteries...no more than 18" off the front batt.

You don't need 2 fuses between alt ----> batt. either

so i'll put 1 fuse between alt and battery and 1 fuse between the 1st and 2nd battery +?
If it's that long of a run, I wouldn't blame you for putting two fuses on the alt----->batt run. You will need a fuse between the batteries as well.

no i think the wirinf between batteries is wrong. the way you have it setup will make 24 volts insteads of 12. i'll post a diagram in a minute
You are incorrect.

Alt +---->Batt. 1+, Batt.1 +---->Batt. 2 +, Batt.1 neg------->Batt.2 neg.

Doube fuse between alt and batt if that run is going inside that cabin, it will give you protection on both ends. Single fuse between batteries.

so is aussie's way is the correct way to get 12V?
No, please refer to my diagram for the proper way. Post #10

You also don't need to ground the second battery to the frame, as long as the first battery is grounded to the frame and the second battery is grounded to the first.
