This is my first post and I am a noob at car audio. So I was wondering if this is a good setup?

2 kenwood subs

Amazon.com: Kenwood KFC-W3012 12" Performance Series Subwoofer: Electronics

1 kenwood amp

Amazon.com: Kenwood Kac-9105D 1800-Watt Class D Mono Amplifier: DiscountsJungle

and this box

Amazon.com: Atrend E12Dsv B Box Series 12-Inch Dual Vented Enclosure with Shared Chamber: Electronics

Its about $300 for this setup.

I am up to any suggestions of how this could be better. I would like to stay under $400.

I'm not a huge fan of kenwood but the setup isn't too bad. The amp should push a pair of those subs nicely. I'd reconsider the box choice. Prefab enclosures are one of those things you want to stay away from but if you must go prefab....definitely go sealed IMO. It's harder to mess up a sealed box, where as a poorly designed and built ported box will sound terrible. It'll likely save you some money to go sealed also. I'd try to make sure with whatever sealed box you choose you make sure you're getting 1.25ft^3 per chamber or if you decide to go ported then 1.5ft^3 each and try to make sure it's at least made out of 3/4 inch MDF. Your choice in the end as it's your money. The ported box will get louder but in this case will sound like crap in comparison to sealed.

You may be able to find someone on here to build you a basic ported box to maximize potential of those subs. An if you find everything cheap enough, you may still be able to stick to the $400 budget.

I would say get a sealed prefab if you can't build one yourself. Make sure it is built with 3/4" material.

Also you can get something better for the price of that amp.. I would also try looking used. Maybe get a used Type R instead of the two kenwood subs.

Absolutely epic horrible advice here.

That setup blows, Kenwood suc ks at everything except HU's. Prefabs blow and the price tag is ALOT for the quality your getting.

Seriously whats your budget, goals, what do you have and what do you need to finish your build?

I have nothing except a HU. I plan to do the Big 3 before I install it. I am only 17 so I don't have a ton of money. So I think I will get a Alpine Type R 12". What model? What amp would be able to power it good but is not to expensive. My goal... shake cars around me. Budget probably around $400 maybe $450.

DC Audio Level 4 15" D2 $200 shipped

Box at 4.5 net cubes tuned at 32Hz. I paid $125 for my box.

Amp look for 1500@1 ohm. MB Quart DSC1500.1 or the Audiopipe 15001d and youll be set.

Youll learn by going with Kenwood that its better to front the money for the quality stuff rather than going with cheap stuff first and having to replace it. In the end it will cost twice as much than if you did things right the first time.

this because you will overpay for the crappier stuff and then have a hard time getting a little bit of your money out of it for your next build. I have yet to know one person that justs gets one setup and stops. Myself included, all of my friends who start off with sony and other terrible sub/amp combos often regret getting them in the first place. You will be satisfied at first but will crave more, in general.
