ive heard good things about the hifonic amps and they seem good value, ive heard that the 1700 has cleaner sounding power if i run it at 2ohms instead of 1ohm. so would i be better with 1ohm 1700 or 2 ohm 1200 for 1200watts of subs?

IMO Hifonix sux, a lot of people run them but I just don't like their builds. I've always used Panosonic HUs for the money I don't think they can be beat. Even the cheaper models have nice features like full preamp out sets and LPF HPF filters. I really do like the Pioneer Premiers though they r sick. Alpine makes good HUs too. As far as kenwood I've always liked their amps but I don't dabble too much into their subs/HUs.

Hifonics upper end model amps are decent and will do rated but their lower end line would be something to stay away from. MB Quart makes some solid and cheap amps so they are worth looking into. That amp might have a lower thd @ 2ohm then at 1ohm but I doubt you would ever know the difference it's not like it's a sq amp so you mine as well get all u can out of it and wire it down to 1ohm. Audiopipe would also be a cheap alternative to look into if you are on a budget which it seems you are.

Can't argue with that statement. I love my Panny I just wish they were still producing HU's...
