Is this a good deal on Sonic? NVX XQW124 12"?

I'm extremely new to this so hopefully I'm not pissing too many of you off with my questions yet...

I'm sold on the Massive NX5 5ch amp and it looks like Sonic has a deal going on where you get 50% off a NVX sub with the purchase of the amp. I picked out the XQW124 12" because after doing some research it looks like they do well in small boxes, which I'm going for. For $185 would this sub be a good choice? I'm looking for SQ plus decent rumble which the reviews claim it does well. If so could any of you guide me to a decent pre-made box to drop it in? I'm thinking ported but again, I'm not looking to kill my trunk...

Thanks guys-

If you're looking for the most out of your sub, do not cheap out and get a premade box. Get a custom one built for your sub.

Also you could probably do much better than that sub for the price ($185). I can't believe its almost $400 new

Any recommendations on a box maker? I don't trust anyone in Mississauga or Toronto. I've talked to clowns who don't know **** trying to sell me $2000 systems with $450 worth of gear. Every call I make I feel like I'm wearing a **** ME sign with an arrow pointed up and down on my shirt.

Thanks but I keep getting these kinds of replies without any shoves in the right direction. Is there like 5 brands in the $125-200 range I should be looking at?

If your dead set on using a shallow mount sub your options for quality and variety are not very big. No choice but to use shallow??

There is like 400 box builders on this site... Start with prorabbit "DC Creations" and also give Starr Mountain Sound a knock. I have dealt personally with SM and would do so again without question... Good man, good builder, good prices, what else can u ask for???

P.S if u go with the NX5 be sure it has room to breath....

Well I just mean that I don't want to use the whole trunk. Something like this would be fine, 18x14x15... Sound Ordnance BB12-150V Single 12" Vented Box 1.60 cu.ft so I'm not sure if that still pins me to a shallow mount. And ya, the amp will have room 99% of the time it's in heavy use. I could have one of these guys build me a box and ship it to Niagara I guess. Thanks for your help man. If my dimensions are cool, if they are big enough for "normal" subs, what would you say I look into?

are you set on those amps and sub? i would suggest give a budget and what speakers you are amping and people here might be able to save you money and be louder

I'm looking to stay around a grand. These are the speakers (x4) I think I'm going to go with although I'm sure someone will say they lick balls pretty soon... Amazon.com: Focal Polyglass 165 CVX 6.5-Inch Coaxial Speaker Kit: Car Electronics I thought the NX5 would be able to power them plus a sub no problem. I'm not looking to win contests or rattle my liver into my throat, just looking for good sound...

I could get you a setup with a Massive Audio Neo sub, the NX5, and some good speakers as well. The NX5 tends to have problems when people run the sub channel at 1 ohm. The 10" Neo is dual 4 ohm, so you'd run the amp at 2 ohms for 400W. For speakers I recommend CDT DRT-26CXS or HD-6EX if you want to stay with coaxials, or you could do components in the front and coaxials in the back. I also have 4 GA OFC amp wiring kits and RCAs.

Trumpet has an audio shop and knows a lot about SQ which sounds like where you are heading. keep the thread alive for a couple of days just bump it so you can have the most suggestion.

good luck

Trumpet, you're gonna be my guy. Thank you so much. Would the speakers you recommended work in a 2006 Acura CSX (basically a premium Honda Civic)? I would love to go with 6.5 mids with the separate tweeters for the front and stay all in one for the back fills. I'm used to the 2-way separates in the front so I'm thinking I should probably stick with that setup, or would you say go with 2-way coaxials in the front doors instead? Could you provide a box that would house the sub too?

could you maybe shoot me a PM of pricing? I'm not sure about that Neo 10" sub, I could throw a little more dough at the sub if you have recommendations that would put me in a better bracket for subs.
