Box length?

I have a SA-12 in a 2.5CF sealed box and was thinking about making a 1.14CF or around there, because the SA-12 displaces 0.14, sealed box with some spare MDF I have lying around. Only question is, someone said that having the box too short, as in depth/length wise, could cause problems. Could anyone shed some light on that statement? Also, what would be some good dimensions for a box with none of the lengths not being longer than 15.5"? Thanks in advance!

in a sealed enclosure that is less of a problem, shape, length, height etc shouldn't make much of a difference sound wise. It may affect how the sub cone gets pressure, idealy you want even pressure on the cone, but this is a kind of a mute point on sealed enclosures.
