Is this a decent compressor?

that seems to small. it might do it but it would struggle. for 180ftlbs i'd recommend something that is safe at 120-140psi. especialy if the 180 nut is rusted and been sitting there for years. craftsman makes a good product. btw the girls in you sig are hawt as hellz

i thought the bigger the tank, the longer you get to use it?

i just need a compressor in case i need to bust a stubborn bolt/nut, so i wont be using it all the time.

You'll need a 30gal 5-6hp compressor to do that and be able to keep enough air supplied.Got one from sears for 250-300 works great.
I don't know tons about compressors but what do tank size and HP of the compressor have anything to do with the ability to break axle bolts? (assuming tank and hp ratings aren't ridiculously small.)

He said he won't be using it that often so tank capacity doesn't really matter as long as it'll do at least 120-140psi like someone already mentioned.

They are rated for flow of air.The smaller the tank the more the motor has to work to keep the psi up.A smaller motor takes longer to refill the tank. Most will tell you what kind of tools they will work with. You can't have a small compressor made for filling bike tires and small brad nailers run a 150lbft impact and expect it to do the job properly.

okay. Tank Capacity is going to be needed. if you have a real small tank then the motor will not beable to hold it at the proper psi needed for stuborrn bolts. and hp is probley something you can afford to lose a little with not using it very much. the more hp means the faster fills up the tank with air and the more it will maintain a constant air pressure if you start depleting your tanks air supply. the PSI has to be atleast 120-140 to get those bolts and more is never a bad thing.
