Is this a BAD IDEA?

Would downfiring 2 15's in an Expedition with the ports back be a bad idea? Would it have any benefit over firing subs up and the port back? I don't want the subs and port back because the box will have a plexi window so it can be seen lit up when the liftgate opens.

Some car audio shop owner told me it would add 3db or give a +3db response, or however you say it? Is this true?

It may sound louder but on a meter I doubt you would do anything. Like he said it would shake the shit out of your floor. It improves the bass response greatly i've found, I'm assuming because the object the subs load off of is sooo close.
