Is there anyway this has an effect on the sound?

I bought 3 Alpine Type-Rs on eBay. One of them is pretty much broken even though there we all described just to have minor scratching....

Any way, the two that are in the best condition look like this...

I haven't noticed any other imperfections. However, when I push down lightly on the speaker I can hear and feel what feels like a spring move but on the second one pictured I don't hear it.

Do you have a multimeter? check the resistance, that Spring sound would have me very worried. Had a coil that got so hot it completely came apart and looked like a giant slinky.

I paid 70 each but instead of returning 1 I'll probably be returning two. The one in the second picture I posted has no sound when lightly pressed on.

File a paypal claim. Reread the auction listing as well to see what wording they used. You will eventually be just fine and it should work out. Bad product and not as described will let you win every time.

I even contacted them about the condition before I bought them and they said that they don't know why the scratches aren't showing up in the pictures. I quoted them on this too and I have all the messages. Also, I feel that the condition goes far beyond just scratched. Take a look at the third sub.....

Wow! That's pretty fvcked up. I've ordered a lot of stuff off Ebay. Nothing like this has ever happened. When they didn't show pics of the actual subs you were buying that should've been a red flag. Sorry.... You can actually order the older model ones new now for 100 bucks.

Damage did not show up in their add because they used stock photos from some one else. Hell they even have two different versions in the pics.

I was just thinking, well their reputation is good and they're cheap so what the hell? Anyway if I don't get Type-Rs what should I get? I'm getting two for my Malibu and 1 for my Chevrolet Cruze.
