Is there any point running 6x9s with a sub?

I was wondering what you guys with 6x9s and a sub(s) installed think of the setup. Because I have heard from 'pros' that you should have either one or the other, not both. I have been in the rear of a car with a sub and 6x9s and thought it sounded ok as i could actually hear words.

Or maybe it would be best to just put some coaxials or tweeters in the back?

Just wonderin what people have heard and what they thought was best.

it's really up to the user. You can have both. Just cross accordingly.
