Is there a diffrence between watts? Like the JL amps. People would say like that 500 watt amp hooked up to two 12"W3 would POUND. would 500watts POUND? i wouldnt think so. maybe like 1000watts would pound. am i right?

a watt is a watt... but the ratings change from company to company. apparently they all have different -opinions- of what a watt should be.

a watt is a watt no matter how ya look at it. and some comapnies do have their own definition of a watt, which is weird. also, some companies rate their amps at 12v, some at 14.4v, and most rate between 16v and 18v, which is gay because you cant run your car at voltages that high.

I'd offer to let you listen to a Stroker 18" in a 13.6 cuft enclosure w/180 sq in of port @ 600wrms.... but you dont live near me. :boobies:

all things being equal 1000 watt amp will make a 3db increase over the 500 watt which isnt a huge difference to your ear, so it will pound louder....1 db is the "noticable difference" perfect human hearing can detect. for our ears to depict twice as loud would be +10 db which is different than twice the power (+3 db)
